Ever heard of a Pink Lake in Melbourne?
Melbourne’s very own pink lake is in Westgate Park, under the Westgate Bridge. There are two lakes in the park, a freshwater lake and a salt lake. The salt lake has been turning pink almost every year since December 2012. Unfortunately, the salt lake only turns pink once a year. Summer and Autumn are the windows of opportunity, and it relies on high temperatures and reduced rainfall.
It seems fairly common that March is the best time to witness the spectacle!
Join our Director of Member Services, Melissa Milne, and other members on a bushwalk at Westgate Lake and hopefully you will be lucky to witness the spectacle lake turn pink!
Let us know if you’re in! RSVP to Fiona by sms 0433 293 310 or email fiona.chan@unitedhousing.org.au
