Come along to join the Director of Member Services, Melissa Milne, and other members for a springtime picnic at the Royal Botanic Gardens.
Bring along with you a packed picnic lunch and a pair of headphones and smartphone to hear stories and sounds from the Arid Garden, Herb Garden, Fern Gully, and Sensory Garden.
Immerse yourself in intertwining stories, atmospheric music and mesmerising sounds of the natural environment in Sonica Botanica, created by Melbourne sound artist Patrick Cronin.
Weaving together interviews, field recordings and a musical score, this evocative listening experience responds to collectors’ passions, botanical knowledge, favourite memories, childhood impressions, historical anecdotes and cultural viewpoints.
PLEASE NOTE: No RSVP is required, just turn up and meet Melissa at Gate C on Anderson St, near the Arid Garden.

Ever heard of a Pink Lake in Melbourne?
Melbourne’s very own pink lake is in Westgate Park, under the Westgate Bridge. There are two lakes in the park, a freshwater lake and a salt lake. The salt lake has been turning pink almost every year since December 2012. Unfortunately, the salt lake only turns pink once a year. Summer and Autumn are the windows of opportunity, and it relies on high temperatures and reduced rainfall.
It seems fairly common that March is the best time to witness the spectacle!
Join our Director of Member Services, Melissa Milne, and other members on a bushwalk at Westgate Lake and hopefully you will be lucky to witness the spectacle lake turn pink!
Let us know if you’re in! RSVP to Fiona by sms 0433 293 310 or email fiona.chan@unitedhousing.org.au
